Gary L. Hawkins, Assistant Professor of Water Resource Management at The University of Georgia, and students from his Freshman Seminar visited SKAPS Industries to tour our manufacturing facility this morning.
The Freshman Seminar that Professor Hawkins teaches covers topics such as stormwater, erosion, and sedimentation, and on-site wastewater treatment. He has been discussing different products with his students, from plastics to natural materials, that help reduces stormwater runoff, erosion, and sedimentation, and so it was a great opportunity for them to see how the materials they encounter daily go from the raw material stage to a finished product, and how those products are made and tested.
The University of Georgia students that attended today have elected a wide range of majors this year.
Their elected majors are Biology, Bio-Chemistry, Accounting, Business, Fashion, Music Education, Computer Science, Pharmacy, & Engineering.
We enjoyed hosting Professor Hawkins and his students, and introducing them to the world of geosynthetics, and how they play a key role in some of the topics covered in their seminar. Go Dawgs!
